guest horses all the way from Florida enjoy the Nova Scotia climate
Beaver Dam Farm Resort . . .
The farm is gorgeous. It’s been our goal to build a great horse facility, and to create an idyllic, old-fashioned farm with extensive perennial gardens, grace and beauty. --- It’s been worth the effort. The perfumed air in June and July is heaven on earth.
one of the many sitting areas around the farm - In 2011 we'll plant vegetables in the barrels which will be available for guests to pick
Arthur and I enjoy hosting guests at our beautiful farm. Now that we’ve semi-retired from the Fjordhorse business, we’re opening the farm to other breeds. . . . We’ve developed Beaver Dam Farm resort over the last 20 years, and we think you’ll find just about everything you could want to enjoy your horses to the fullest, as well as train and condition.
guests riding down our driveway to connect to the trails
There are miles of trails for riding & driving. All kinds of trails ---- grass loops through old hay fields, woods roads, woodland trails, long hills, and natural water crossings.
There’s a wonderful 40 x 100 meter grass dressage arena for riding and driving. -- There are cones courses, and most fun of all is -
McArthur’s Park - a beautiful park on the farm, a short ride or carriage drive from the stable. The park is brimming with apple trees, wild flowers, blueberry bushes, and a wonderful maze for riding & driving.
If you love peace, tranquility, and the simple country life, you’ll love Beaver Dam Farm Resort. Come with or without your horses, and SEA for yourself. -- It's the real deal.
We have large box stalls - lots of wonderful pastures with run-in sheds - Good fencing - a round pen - wash stall – fenced riding & driving rings – A regulation size driving arena (unfenced) –
THE CARRIAGE HOUSE is underneath THE LOFT apartment.
This space is available to our guests to store their carriages and harness. There’s a washroom, shower & washing machine inside. -- All clothes drying at Beaver Dam Farm Resort is done on the line.
The Carriage House where we store our carriages and give driving theory lessons - The device on the back wall is called a Reinboard. It's what we use to teach proper and soft rein handling.
THE STABLE/ART GALLERY - Built in 2009, It has six straight stalls, and a very spacious box stall. -- Attached to the stable, which we call the STABLE/ART GALLERY, because there are real oil paintings hanging over the stalls, is the TACKROOM/PUB - It’s very spacious, attractive, and comfortable to work in.
Our beautiful new Stable/Art Gallery - Built in 2009, it's been delightful for the horses and for us.
THE TACKROOM/PUB - The tackroom is attached to the new Stable/Art Gallery, and it’s name was inspired by my 2008 trip to England and Scotland and the amount of time my friend, Margaret and I spent in pubs. -- We were sitting in one of these one day, when I looked closely at it and said . . .”Hmmm, this is the look I’d like for my new tackroom.”
I love cleaning tack in this nice, comfy room.
Carol's Pride & Joy! -- The Tackroom/Lounge - Called that because it's so pleasant to be in. Makes cleaning tack a joy.
FEED ROOM FOR GUESTS – This locked room is located in the old barn, and is for the use of our guests - For non-horse people, the "Feed Room" is where horse feed is kept. - Guests with horses can use this in the new Stable.
The rolling terrain of Beaver Dam Farm is ideal for hiking & walking, and for conditioning horses - Long, gentle hills, nothing precipitous.
Remember, all that's necessary to enjoy a vacation at Beaver Dam Farm Resort is a love of the simple life, and a love of animals. If you bring horses, they'll be in what's so often called "Horse Heaven." And, remember too that Beaver Dam Farm Resort is Dog Friendly - We welcome well-behaved dogs.
